Find out BugJet Editor review of Cort X-6 guitar. He rants about the brutality of the guitar he proud to own of. This “Ibanez RG Clone” is shockingly low price and able to bled your finger off. Price Paid: Rp 1,475,000 (approx. US$165) in MG Sports & Music. Check Latest Price Background I was lucky enough to get this guitar cut 25% off original price at Pro Audio Fair in Jakarta Convention Center couple months ago. I was looking around Ibanez distributor corners to find a damn brutal bloodshed guitar at lowest price possible but all the prices I found are torn my budget easily-I’m not a rich guy dammit. Then I moved to MG Sports & Music booth and quickly identified a nice looking “Ibanez RG Clone” sparkling purple Cort! For those you don’t know, Cort Company headquartered in U.S but they have some factories in China, Korea and Indonesia (Mojokerto, East Java to be exact) and Cort also making guitar for Fender and Ibanez as OEM supplier! Construction & Playability The 24 jumbo fretboard made of rosewood with dot inlays in the left margin, not centered. It has 25.5” scale ultra thin neck, making the grip easy navigating the fretboard without being tired even your hand sweated out of hell. The fretboard construction is no complaint at all. I do cruising the 1st or 24th fret note as slick as hand-oiled massage! The Floyd Rose licensed floating tremolo is perfect. You can bend like craze mighty Joe Satriani or dive-bombing a la Tom Morello shakes with greate ease and flawlessly. The locking tuner does the job to keep strings in tune even in extreme brutal picking style. The pay off is when you strung out or out of tune; the locking bridge and nut construction make you need more hassles to replace the string and/or adjust the tuning. Action is ok to my playing style but it can be a bit lower. The strap pins seem strong I never lose the strap. The purple finish is a bit unusual with sexy contour making an eye catching on stage (do the girls love purple?) Sound Check The Mighty Mite pickups, though an unfamiliar brand, do the job for Metal sound. The gain is quite high for passive pickup. Cort added nice feature: the coil tap makes humbucker became single coil pickup hence adding variety of sound color from thin bright hi screamer to ultra heavy low grunts though the single mode gain is only half outputs of the pickup – a little weak sound produced. But if you wanting clean sound this single mode gives the best. Humbucker distortion is great. Hook it up through distortion pedal making sound produced is a breeze. The good construction makes this guitar also enjoyable to play with shredding and fret tapping style with all notes heard clearly and loud. 5-mode switch provides sound combination from bright, clean, warm, to bold and heavy of bridge humbucker. Trying artificial harmonics bend at 15th fret and it screams like a tenor women! The natural harmonics can be recreates easily and clean. Summary I can’t believe such a quality guitar priced at lower than Rp 1.500.000. I am lucky and proud to be the owner of Cort X 6 and either should you. Very recommended (5 stars rating). Pro: -Super low price at exceptional quality of construction -Purple finish with sexy contour. We like it. -An Ibanez RG [clone] at the price of one-third! -H-S-H pickup and 5 –way selector gives wide variety of tones Cons: - Cable included is ultra shit! It picks noise/hum up brutally. Use better instrument cable like D’addario Planet Waves or Ernie Ball UltraFlex and it will keep silence as a graveyard. Only registered users can write comments. Please login or register.
