Poor Best
panic disorder grindcore trio from jakarta. ilustrasi dari bab sadis, album coverTotal violent chaos! That’s what I discover upon listening to latest Panic Disorder album, Ilustrasi dari Bab Sadis (Illustration of sadistic chapters) The grindcore trio consists of Joky-guitars/throat, Ketut Budi-bass and Ronie-drums teamed up to deliver brutal heart-grinding ear-splitting grooves spitting violent themes inspired from real life news announced by TV and newspapers. Raging blood, butchery, mutilation, bloodbath knives, cannibalistic misdemeanors, furious revenge, and bloodshed massacre; all the vicious substance stretching your ears delivered by guttural voices choked to death accompanying ultra fast snare-double kicks combo smacks and massive low tuned strings blasts.

Panic Disorder - Ilustrasi dari Bab Sadis
Sebelas April Records, 2004
Track list:
1. Ilustrasi dari Bab Sadis (Illustration of Sadistic Chapters)
2. Carnivorous Tribe Blood Feast
3. Tertikam Dendam (Stabbed by Revenge)
4. Pisau Berbicara (Dagger Talks)
5. Guinness Book of the Killer Records
6. Disaffected
7. Into Gory Chamber
8. Rotten Dismemberment Bodies Female
9. My Hatred Smashed Your Head
10. Ketika Tubuh Bersimbah Darah (When Body Bathe in Blood)
11. Kebencian Tanpa Batas (Infinite Hatred)
12. Eaten Corpse Our Leader (live on air – Pulsar FM France)

Though the song beat majority kept at maximum speed, the guitar riffs are not dominated by palm-muted low strings as common picking style in this subgenres. IMHO they’re tending to Hanneman-King’s 80ies Slayer-ism rhythm and Napalm Death-ism blast rather than Decrepit Birth or Disgorge palm-muting heroes with artificial harmonics lying in certain spots. Nevertheless, the guitarist surely has wrote arrays of brutal riffs in this record, but making them too much would getting bored easier if nothing bizarre distracting the audience such as weird tempo, break, structure and of course, melodies. I wish guitar solo given more exposure as I found the haunting drone solo works in some songs like in “Rotten..” and “Carnivorous..” are admirable. They’re executed perfectly as if the shivering fluidic sounds from ultra fast tremolo-picked riffs threaten you to death! Sadly, only few seconds of joy are permitted in two or three songs.

“Kebencian..” intro incorporating low and dark cello sound, which is perfect arrangement I suppose considering the song theme as well as the echoic whispers in “Into the Gory Chamber”. Basslines are ordinary; following guitar notes closely leaves no room for improvisation and breathes. Same situation happened to drums which dominated by snare-kick only as if the drummer only has two-piece kits to play with.

Digging into production quality, I’ll throw unfair judgment here, for the reason that I only got cassette version, so my verdict somewhat biased considering limited analog cassette and player quality compared to compact disc. Basically the guitar distortion is okay; it just sits nicely in the mix with enough overdriven gain level fits in place to maintain its definition though the presence could be stronger. The downside was on bass sound, it equalized/boosted at midbass range hence the bass would sounds like small gong beaten in the graveyard at midnight. The guitar solo, although the riffs are great, buried between the riots of rhythm. One bonus track recorded live in FM radio in France was taking over by excessive midbass drowning the other instrument’s clarity. Supposed that my tape player sucks, I assume the dudes in the studio were done the job correctly. I just played it through cheapfux Sony walkman. Maybe Teac dual player would be my wish list. Therefore, I put N/A (Not Available) for Recording Score below. (Faishal-BJ/1104)

Download Panic Disorder MP3 now! You'll find one track converted from tape into digital audio unprocessed with noticeable tape hiss, unbalanced tone and weak level. We have digitally remastered the tracks uploaded here using absolutely free audio engine (sequencer and editor) and VST effects for your listening pleasure. By removing noise/tape hiss, balancing tone and raising overall level, we believe the sounds are better. If our goal not achieved, forgive us. Possible reasons:
1. It was done using soundblaster type of shit soundcard max 44 kHz 16-bit sampling rate on WAV files.
2. The sources are analog cassette tracks with limited frequency response compared to compact disk
3. Simply because we’re uneducated amateurish jerk in pro audio world.

Anyhow we believe you'll notice the difference before and after processed. If you’re interested, we’ll show you how to remaster analog tape/cassette in simple steps. Rant your comments here.
